Today we said goodbye to Eric Caisley, clinical care assistant from Morpeth. Eric passed away suddenly following a short illness in hospital on 27 December 2022
Eric leaves his partner Tracy, his son Eric William Caisley and extended family, who were so proud of what he achieved throughout his life. His family wanted his colleagues to know that he absolutely loved his job with NEAS and wished he had been in a position to do it years ago.
Before joining NEAS, Eric had a varied career history, but he was especially proud to have served in 3rd Battalion The Parachute Regt. as well as working in close protection, where he travelled all over the world protecting high profile celebrities and the Dubai royal family. Eric also worked in Kabul, Afghanistan liaising with international forces to ensure the security of all NATO personnel and civilians within the HQ International Security Assistance Force.
Eric had been with NEAS for just under two years. He started as an ambulance care assistant in March in 2021 and started his CCA in training June 2022. Such a huge change of career at 55 was no mean feat, but Eric's mantra was always 'I'm not too old and it's not too late!' Eric had been at Morpeth station since mid-October and was proud to support the local community where he was born and bred.
Losing a colleague has been a great shock to us all. Eric was not only a valued colleague but also a friend to many and will be greatly missed.
