Ambulance service volunteers nominated for Volunteer of the Year Award

1st August 2024

Congratulations to the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) porter volunteers who 1Z1A8027.jpghave been shortlisted for a Celebrating Excellence Award hosted by Newcastle Hospitals.

The Celebrating Excellence Awards celebrate those who go over and above to support patients across the region. In total there are 13 awards, including a Volunteer of the Year award which includes volunteer porters for NEAS.

Volunteer porters play an important role in daily scheduled care operations with around 30 volunteers to meet our scheduled crews and convey patients from our vehicles to their point of clinical care and return to the vehicles.

Volunteer Development Manager from North East Ambulance Service, Beverley Smith said: “Our porter volunteers provide outstanding support to our crews to help convey our patients to and from their appointments whilst at hospital.

“The commitment they give to NEAS, and the patients and communities we serve is exceptional and they do it selflessly and in their own time.”

The Celebrating Excellence Awards will be held on Friday 27 September 2024 at St James’ Park.
