Georgina joins the organisation from the Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, where she has been chief finance officer for the past five years.
NEAS Chief Executive Helen Ray said: “Georgina’s appointment follows a robust and extensive recruitment process and she brings with her a wealth of experience and knowledge across disciplines in finance, procurement, digital, estates and facilities, information management and change programs to improve staff wellbeing, service and efficiency.”
Kevin Scollay, who takes up his post as chief executive of NEAS on 1st June, said: “I am delighted that Georgina will be joining us in NEAS. This is a key appointment for the Board at a time when finances across the public sector are challenging. I am looking forward to having Georgina’s drive and vision play an important role in continuing to provide the best care for patients across the North East.”
Georgina will be returning to the North East, where she previously worked in the private sector in Newcastle, before moving away to establish a career in the NHS almost 20 years’ ago. She has experience in senior roles at Birmingham and Solihull NHS Foundation Trust, Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, NHS Improvement and NHS England.
Georgina said: “I am excited to be joining NEAS and returning to the North East of England. I have a particular interest in service transformation that delivers high quality outcomes for patients and staff.
“And while there is a focus on the current financial challenges across the public sector, it has always been the case that organisations need to make the most of their funding and take careful and informed decisions about how they use their resources to deliver the highest quality of care for the communities they serve.”
Georgina replaces Tarryn Lake, previous group director of finance and digital, who left NEAS in February to join NHS England as regional director of finance for the North East and Yorkshire. Georgina is expected to join in September 2025.
